Photo Capture Protocol

Capture close-up, mid-range, and whole-plant context frames whenever possible. Include healthy comparison tissue in the same lighting conditions.

Capture essentials

  • • Close-up of texture and lesion edge.
  • • Mid-range spread pattern across neighboring tissue.
  • • Whole-plant context with canopy and stage clues.
  • • Repeat frames over 24–72h when progression matters.

Avoid

  • • Motion blur or heavy digital zoom.
  • • Color-shifting filters and HDR artifacts.
  • • Single frame without surrounding context.
  • • Mixed lighting that hides true color pattern.

Quality checklist

  1. 1. Is symptom texture in focus?
  2. 2. Is there healthy contrast tissue?
  3. 3. Is growth stage clear?
  4. 4. Is lighting neutral enough for color accuracy?
  5. 5. Is at least one whole-plant frame included?
